California’s Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) found that in the course of post-repair inspections 60% had remaining damage, and 42% involved significant safety concerns.

A poor repair can disrupt the intricate crash management system, preventing your vehicle from reacting, in a collision, the way it was originally engineered. Modern vehicles are constructed with a unitized body and frame, or “unibody,” that is engineered to react in a specific way in order to protect the occupants of a vehicle in a collision. It’s crucial to the safety and resale value of your vehicle that the unibody be repaired correctly.

Poor repairs can also create dangerous problems with your vehicle’s handling, airbag timing, Airbag systems rely on sensors which sense changes in the unibody in an elaborate and highly sensitive system engineered by the manufacturer. Unless OEM parts and systems are used in the repair, airbag timing can be disrupted.

Consider that it takes less than a second for an occupant to be thrown into the steering wheel or dashboard of a vehicle in a collision, meaning airbags are deployed in milliseconds. Even the slightest delay in deployment can render an airbag ineffective, and result in serious injury to the passenger.
